I have a friend who bought this and read it to his three year old。 He handed it to me when I visited him this weekend， and I read it。 I enjoyed it very much。But for the title it's actually a pretty decent story for kids。 The "Hookers" are two tow trucks and "Blow" is a snow blower。 All three anthropomorphized vehicles help clear a path for the train carrying presents to the Christmas party。 It teaches children compassion， a work ethic， and an heroic ideal。But then there is the title。My friend's I have a friend who bought this and read it to his three year old。 He handed it to me when I visited him this weekend， and I read it。 I enjoyed it very much。But for the title it's actually a pretty decent story for kids。 The "Hookers" are two tow trucks and "Blow" is a snow blower。 All three anthropomorphized vehicles help clear a path for the train carrying presents to the Christmas party。 It teaches children compassion， a work ethic， and an heroic ideal。But then there is the title。My friend's son is going into a pre-school program， and is very excited about it。 When he was asked by his daddy what they were going to learn about in the class， the little guy responded:"Hookers and Blow。"So there's that。The title， of course， wasn't a mistake。 Experienced adults （not those unworldly and innocent souls who regularly attend church） will notice a little bit of sexual innuendo when reading it。 No child will pick up on it。 But when it comes to little ones， there is no escaping that title。So， if you don't want your pre-schooler spouting off the title of this book as proof of his precocity and erudition， maybe you should go with "The Little Blue Truck"， which has a wonderful lesson on friendship and loyalty。。。at least between anthropomorphized talking vehicles and highly sentient， if somewhat inarticulate， barnyard animals。Or read "The Cat In The Hat"， so they can see that even a feline psychopath （pardon the redundancy） can clean up a mess for which he's responsible after his two demonic little numbered minions have trashed the place。 It's a good lesson on teaching children to set boundaries in order to distance themselves from toxic people （the cat） and to act on the dictates of their conscience （in this case represented by the talking and air breathing fish--possibly a transitional species）。 The children in this story start off doing nothing， and end up doing nothing。 Point out to your children how inaction and tremulous trepidation such as exhibited in these two will undoubtedly lead to personal ruin in their lives。 They'll be predated upon， and life will crush them。Now see？ You got THREE book reviews for the price of one。 And if you don't like this review， I'll take umbrage and triple my fee。 。。。more
